We will cover a variety of topics including inspiration, creativity and techniques with a lot of examples Presenting artist - Judy Rys, Kristin Otte, Ranell Hansen
& Lora Martin Smadar Knobler program and workshop November 1 & 2nd Soy Wax Batik - Going Green My lecture will be about my art journey, which brought me to soy batik. I will have a CD slide show presentation of my work as well as samples of soy batik. If people wish to gather more of an understanding of the process in advance they can reference Belle Armoire Magazine Sept/Oct. 2007 issue for my “Soy Wax Going Green” article, or go to my website and read it there.
Following the presentation I will be teaching a day & 1/2 workshop. We will be exploring many different ways to use soy wax such as stamping, using tjaps, brushes, tjanting tools, and other found objects. Participants should bring several fabrics to experiment with. They will also need to bring dyes, suitable for the fabrics they choose to work with, heat-set is preferable. We would like to set the dyes using irons, and if possible wash out wax in hot water. Workshop: members $85.00 - non-members $90.00 - $10.00 materials fee Registration and information contact Claire Chytilo at 879-7782 - Registration form will be in August newsletter.
